Adult Autism & ADHD Assesments

Neuroaffirming Assessions.

Adult Autism & ADHD Assessments

I provide comprehensive, neuroaffirming assessments for older teenagers and adults (16+) exploring autism, ADHD, or combined Autism & ADHD (AuDHD).
Assessment is about more than determining whether you meet diagnostic criteria. It is an opportunity to better understand how you experience the world, recognise your strengths, and identify supports that may help you thrive.

A Neuroaffirming Approach

My approach is neuroaffirming and person-centred.
I view autism and ADHD as natural variations in human neurodevelopment rather than conditions that need to be “fixed”. At the same time, I recognise that living in environments that are not always designed with neurodivergent people in mind can bring genuine challenges.

Assessment is therefore not about asking, “What’s wrong with me?” so much as exploring “How do I experience and engage with the world, and how can I better understand myself?”
Whether or not you meet formal diagnostic criteria, my aim is to help you develop a clearer understanding of yourself, recognise your strengths, and identify the supports, accommodations, or strategies that may help you thrive.

The Assessment Process

Assessment begins with a comprehensive clinical interview exploring your developmental history, current experiences, strengths, challenges, education, employment, relationships, mental health, and broader life context.
Where appropriate, information from a parent or someone who knew you well during childhood can provide valuable additional context, although this is not always possible.

Alongside clinical interviewing, I use internationally recognised standardised assessment measures to ensure the assessment is thorough, structured, and tailored to your individual presentation.

Comprehensive Adult Autism Psychological Assessment

Where necessary and appropriate, autism assessments include a detailed developmental history combined with recognised assessment measures, such as:
· Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition (ADOS-2)
· Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R)

Assessment considers both your developmental history and your current experiences, recognising that autism presents differently across individuals and that many adults have developed effective ways of adapting to, or masking, their differences over time.

Comprehensive Adult ADHD Psychological Assessment

ADHD assessments include a detailed exploration of childhood and adult experiences alongside the Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults (DIVA-5), a structured clinical interview based on current diagnostic criteria.

Assessment considers areas such as attention, executive functioning, organisation, impulsivity, emotional regulation, and the impact these experiences have across different areas of life.

Feedback & Recommendations
Following the assessment, we meet for a dedicated feedback session to discuss the findings in detail. Whether or not you meet formal diagnostic criteria, our discussion focuses on helping you understand your individual profile, how your experiences fit together, and what they may mean for you moving forward.

You will receive a comprehensive written report summarising the assessment, any diagnostic conclusions (where appropriate), and personalised recommendations. These may include workplace or educational accommodations, psychological therapy, further assessment, practical strategies, or signposting to additional supports.

More Than a Diagnosis

For many people, assessment is not simply about receiving a diagnosis. It is about making sense of experiences that may have felt confusing for many years. It can offer a new perspective on longstanding patterns, greater self-compassion, and a clearer understanding of your identity.

My hope is that, whatever the outcome of the assessment, you leave with a deeper understanding of yourself and greater confidence in navigating life as your authentic self.

Please note: These assessments are designed to support diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and personal understanding. They are not intended for medico-legal or forensic purposes.
