Understanding Before Treatment.
No two people arrive in therapy with exactly the same story.
For that reason, I do not believe in applying the same therapeutic approach to everyone.
Therapy begins by understanding you as a whole person; your experiences, relationships, strengths, values, and the circumstances that have shaped your life.
Assessment
We begin with a comprehensive psychological assessment.
This provides an opportunity to understand your current difficulties, your life experiences, your strengths, and what you hope to achieve from therapy.
Formulation
Together we develop a shared understanding of your difficulties, known as a psychological formulation.
A formulation explores questions such as:
· Why have these difficulties developed?
· Why are they particularly showing up now?
· What patterns keep repeating?
· What may be keeping them going?
· What strengths can we build upon?
Therapy
Once we have developed this understanding, we identify meaningful goals and tailor therapy to your individual needs.
My work integrates evidence-based approaches, including:
· Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
· Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
· Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
· Schema-Informed Therapy
· Trauma-Focused Therapies
· CBT for Psychosis
· DBT-Informed Interventions
A Collaborative Process
I see therapy as something we do together.
My role is not to provide quick answers, but to help create a space where curiosity, understanding, and change can emerge.
